A Friend
Someone who will make you smile
Someone who will make you laugh
Someone who will listen
Someone who is there through good and bad times
Someone who gives you a hug when you need one
Someone who knows what’s up
Someone that cares and loves you
That's the reason why friends are true.

We are now discussing about :
- Studies about coilloids were first undertaken by the English chemist, Thomas Graham. He arrived at the term colloid ( meaning, glue-like ) from his observations
that this material cannot pass through parchment paper compared to other materials that can diffuse readily.
- A colloid is a substance microscopically dispersed evenly throughout another substance.
- How important is the study of colloids? We use colloids everyday as food such as ( leche flan, shakes ,gelatin ,jellies ,and ice cream ), as beauty products (e.g. facial creams ,moisturizer ,hair spray ,nail polish and deodorant and many more)
as pharmaceutical preparations (ex, emulsions ,cough syrup ,nasl spray ,skin ointment and vapor rub), and as industrial products (such as paints ,water-jel fire superblanket used to smother flames and protect people from smoke and heat. As a first aid to brn victims ,it forms a second
skin that keeps vital body fluids in and harmful bacteria out.
There are 6 Properties of Colloids :
- Phases
- Particle Size
- Tyndall Effect
- Brownian Movement
- Adsorption
- Electric Charge
- consisting of two-phase materials: the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium. The dispersed phase is the component that seems uniformly distributed
in the dissolving phase or medium. It is usually the component which is smaller in amount. The dispersion medium is that component where another one is suspended it.
- The most distinguishing feature of colloids is the size of the dispersed particles. A system whose particles range from 1 to 100 millimicrons (where 1mu is one millionth of a millimetre) is a colloid.
- It occurs because light is scattered by particles present in colloidal solution. The intensity of the scattered light depends on the difference between the refractive indices of the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium. Greater is the difference, greater the intensity of light.
- "BROWNiAN MOVEMENT" refers to the irregular movement of dispersed particles caused by the impact of fast moving molecules of the liquid medium or solvent against the particles; this motion keeps
colloids indefinitely dispersed in the medium.
- Adsorption is the adhesion of atoms, ions, or molecules from a gas, liquid, or dissolved solid to a surface.
And lastly the ,
- "ELECTRiC CHARGE" is a physical property of matter that causes it to experience a force when near other electrically charged matter. There exist two types of electric charges, called positive and negative. Positively charged substances are repelled from other positively charged substances, but attracted to negatively charged substances; negatively charged substances are repelled from negative and attracted to positive. An object will be negatively charged if it has an excess of electrons, and otherwise be positively charged or uncharged.
